Tamasha: The Story Teller from a Story Teller

…perhaps the best thing that describes Tamasha. Once again Imtiaz Ali lives up to his unique method of portrayal of human characters, emotions and most importantly the spirit which distinguishes us in the animal kingdom. From the 1st scene to the last you can feel a story being sketched or narrated much like the novels of R. K. Narayan, one can see and feel the picture.

A boy lost in his childhood in the dreams spun by a story teller, perhaps wishes to be like him. A girl meets the boy, the girl falls in love for his spirits, so much so, that even after 4 years of their meeting she still misses that soul. Events so happen that she lands in the boy’s town and goes hunting for the boy. She meets him but finds a lost soul, a dead man living. She tells her what she came for and what she is observing. The boy gets disturbed on being reminded about himself. They decide to part but cannot and hold on to themselves in the fight of human spirit.

Performances are good from energetic actors, their chemistry working fine. But it is all about the Director. Tamasha touches the chord set by Udaan and portrays in the manner where Yeh Jawani Hai Deewani failed. From the very first moment to the last you can feel a story being narrated with a modern approach of an opera. The major part of the first half looks much weird yet organized like the stage of a drama, with some upcoming purpose, the story unfolding as it goes on. At no point the characters have grown beyond the art-director’s intent.

The conscious effort of personification of the human spirit (specially through the village story teller and city auto driver) lends a Sufi touch to the film. The craving of human spirit to set itself free beyond social bindings never gets overshadowed by the main characters and their romance. Unrealistic and over simplistic romanticized presentation, thin story line might not encourage happy-go movie viewers, but this is not about Time-Pass, its serious artistic-stuff.

Lucia Review Kannada Movie

Lucia - Excellent, Marvelous, Mind blowing, etc etc... A complete entertainment package made out of a tiny budget, raised by crowd funding which is first of a kind in Kannada film history.

The movie is beyond the expectation of all the investors and garnering appreciation from every one who watched it. Excellent story line and narration by director Mr. Pawan Kumar, excellent performances by cast, great music, all in all a perfect package.

The intelligent narration keeps audience involved with turns n twists through out. The movie haunts you like a dream even after you come out of the theater. Thanks to the cast and crew, especially Mr. Pawan Kumar for making "Lucia" a reality.

Mr and Mrs Ramachari' Review - Best Commercial Movie

The movie is about a hot-headed guy Ramachari, who becomes a fan of Vishnuvardhan's Ramachari from Nagarahaavu after seeing the same consequences they went through. He goes to an extent to get Vishnu's Ramachari tattooed on his chest. Due to his waywardness, his relationship with his father will be spoiled to an extent where the father and son cant stand each other. Ramachari's father prefers his elder son Hari, who is docile and studious.

He hardly goes to college and mostly hangs out with his friends Dattu and Chikkappa, this becoming reason for resentment of Dattu's mom. On one of his rare visits to college, he encounters Divya who is being ragged and its love at first sight for Ramachari. Divya falls for Ramachari and he prefers calling her Margarette(Heroine's character name in movie Nagarahaavu). Its beautiful first few days for the lovers and they decide to get married. Eventually, problems start creeping in their relation and they break up. Ramachari's agrees to marry a girl his father chose to save his honor and hearing this Divya attempts suicide. Later Divya agrees to marry Aakash, a guy her mom chose.

Both marriages are set on same date and in same town of Chitradurga, where Nagarahaavu movie was extensively shot. Both the marriages are managed by "Shubhamastu" wedding planners, headed by Sadhu, who mixes up the photos of Bride and groom, leading to comic situations. On the day of marriage, Ramachari gets his fiancé married to her boyfriend Farhan and involves in a monologue with Vishnu's statue on Chitradurga fort. At the same time hearing that Ramachari broke his marriage, Divya too breaks her marriage and unites with Ramachari.

ChaliPolilu Review - Average Movie inspired from "Meesa Madhavan"

"Meesa Madhavan"  is a popular Malayalam movie which changed the career of Dileep and Kavya Madhavan. The film was the highest grossing film of the year 2002 with a collection of over 15 crores. It had completed 100 days in all the major cinemas and ran over 250 days.It gave its lead actor Dileep the name "Janapriyanaayakan"

When I was watching Prakash Pandeshwars 'Chali Polilu" I remembered "Meesa Madhavan", because "Chali Polilu" movie story has lot of similarities to "Meesa Madhavan"

Here is the Plot of "Meesa Madhavan",

Madhavan falls in love in Bhageerathan Pillai's daughter Rukmini (Kavya Madhavan). The sub inspector in the village Eappen Pappachi (Indrajith) has an eye on Rukmini. He steals the idol from the local Temple with the intention of selling it and puts the blame on Madhavan. It becomes Madhavan's responsibility to find the culprits and he does that with his mentor's help and thus uniting with his girl friend.

And Here is the Plot of "Chalipolilu"

Here in "Chali Polilu", Meesa Madhavan split into 3 characters and all the mischief Madhavan did in Malayam Movie shared with three characters. There is dream sequence, there is loving grandmother, and a physically challenged guy who pass in background in temple scenes, which all inspired by Malayalam Movie, but not up to the mark as in Malayalam. Only difference in Tulu movie is the Temple ornaments stolen from Priest himself in the Tulu movie, while in Meesa Madavan it was by Police. But Police character also in Tulu movie which is portrayed as Hero in the movie who has no scope overall.

Chalipolilu is one time watchable movie with not much memorable scenes, not even memorable comedy sequences. Naveen Padil, Devdas Kapikad and Bhojaraj Vamanjoor plays main roles in the movie and movie totally focused on Naveen D Padil and his love story.

The character of Aravind Bolar is just inserted to show about Astrology and its negative impact on the society. But dramatic sequence to showcase the evil in society wont make any impact on audience. Aravind Bolar succeeded in bringing smile on audience face just by his facial expression.

Camera work by Utpal Nayanar is commendable compared to recently released "Rang" Movie.

Overall "Chalipolilu" is heavily inspired by "Meesa Madhavan" or we can say "Chalipolilu" is poor cousin of "Meesa Madhavan". This movie proves that. only marketing skills can pull audience despite of average quality of the movie.
